Watch the video below to learn about the best public schools in North Orange County:
Hi I’m Tim Hamilton with StellarQuest Real Estate, and in this video I am going to be talking about where you can find the best public schools in Orange County. We have a lot of great schools here, so I decided to break the information up into 3 videos: North OC, South OC, and the coastal cities. In this video I will be focused on North Orange County. If you’re thinking about buying or selling a home, please feel free to call or text me anytime at (714) 486-4086. We can help you determine where you should buy a home if you want to go to the best schools, or discuss how your school district might effect the sale of your home.
We are going to be taking a look at online school ratings from GreatSchools.org. They have a lot of detailed information about each school that I will not be going through. If you want to learn more about some of these schools I recommend visiting their website and taking a look for yourself. I’ll leave a link in the description below.
In this video we are going to quickly touch on a few different school districts, cities, or even specific neighborhoods that go to the some of the best schools. We are not covering these areas in any specific order in terms of best to worst, we are kind of starting on the North end of Orange County and working our way South. I am picking areas that have strong elementary, middle, and high schools. There are other areas where you may find a great high school, but the other levels are lacking, or vice versa. The idea is, these are areas where you could purchase one home and send your kids through the entire public school system. This means I also picked areas that I would expect to remain good neighborhoods with highly-rated schools for years to come.
Placentia & Yorba Linda
First we are going to take a look at the Placentia-Yorba Linda School District. This is a map of the district boundary line, which follows very closely along the Placentia and Yorba Linda city borders. Looking at the high schools you can see that they are rated First we are going to take a look at the Placentia-Yorba Linda School District. This is a map of the district boundary line, which follows very closely along the Placentia and Yorba Linda city borders. Looking at the high schools you can see that they are rated well overall. Yorba Linda High School is the stand out with a 10/10 rating. This is a new, very nice high school that was founded in 2009. The other main public high schools for this district are El Dorado and Esperanza which are both rated an 8, along with Valencia which is rated a 7.
Moving on to the Middle Schools you can see that there are a lot of highly rated schools, specifically in Yorba Linda and on the North side of Placentia. Yorba Linda Middle School is a 9, and there are 4 other schools rates as 8’s.
Looking at the Elementary Schools you can see that its very similar to the Middle Schools. The highest rated schools are in Yorba Linda and on the North side of Placentia. There are multiple 9’s and a lot of 8’s located throughout the district. If you want more specific information about any of these schools or boundaries please let me know and I can help you figure out what neighborhood you need to end up in to get the schools you want.
Fullerton
Next up on our list is Fullerton. Fullerton is not as consistent as Yorba Linda, but it does have several neighborhoods that go to great schools, so I thought it would be helpful to point that out. Looking at the high schools you can see Troy High is rated a 10/10 and Sunny Hills High is rated a 9. There is also Fullerton Union High which is rated a 7/10. Moving onto the Middle Schools. The top rated schools are Robert C. Fisler Elementary and Beechwood Elementary which are both rated as 9s. If you look below the school name on the left you will see that these schools are K-8, so they are both elementary and middle schools. Looking at elementary schools there are 2 other 9’s: Acacia Elementary and Laguna Road Elementary. You can see that there are a lot of other poorly rated schools in Fullerton, so if you’re thinking about moving here and schools are important I recommend doing your research before buying.
Anaheim Hills
Another great area for schools is Anaheim Hills. It is technically part of the city of Anaheim, but is often looked at and viewed as somewhat of a separate area. The main high school for Anaheim Hills is Canyon High School which is rated a 9. A small section of Anaheim Hills on the north side of the 91 FWY goes to Esperanza high school which is rated an 8. The middle school for Anaheim Hills is El Rancho Charter school which is also rated a 9. Looking at the elementary schools you can see that Anaheim Hills Elementary is a 9 and there are 4 other 8s scattered throughout the area.
North Tustin
Next up on the list is North Tustin. North Tustin is an unincorporated area that has a Santa Ana mailing address and has schools that are in the Tustin Unified School District. The main high school for this area is Foothill High which is rated a 9. The Middle school that serves North Tustin is Hewes Middle School, which is rated a 7. Looking at the elementary schools for North Tustin we have Arroyo elementary which is rated an 8. There is Loma Vista Elementary which is rated a 7, and Guin Foss elementary which is rated a 7. There is also Tustin Memorial Elementary which is a magnet school, and it is rated a 9.
Cypress
Next we have Cypress, which is a fairly small city that has some highly rated schools. Cypress has 2 high schools: the Oxford Academy which is rated a 10 and Cypress High which is rated a 9. For middle schools, again we have the Oxford Academy which serves grades 7-12, and then Lexington Junior High which is rated an 8. Looking at the elementary schools we have one 9, three 8’s, and one 7 so the schools are good overall regardless of the neighborhood.
Los Alamitos
Lastly we have the small city of Los Alamitos which will also include the unincorporated area of Rossmoor as well. The high school that covers both of those areas is Los Alamitos high school and it is rated a 9. The 2 middle schools for this area are Oak Middle which is a 9, and Sharon Christa McAuliffe Middle which is rated an 8. Finally the elementary schools are all very highly rated. There are two 10’s and three 9’s.
Do Your Research!
That wraps up our discussion of some of the best public schools in North Orange County. To reiterate this was a coverage of cities and neighborhoods that have strong elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools. I highly recommend that you do your research on specific school boundaries to make sure the neighborhood you are buying in goes to the schools you want. Just because a home is in one city, it does not mean that it is 100% guaranteed to go to the schools located in that city. If you’re thinking about buying a home and you want to get more information about these schools please let us know. We can set you up on a home search that will send you homes that goes to the specific schools you are looking for. If you have questions please feel free to call, text, or email me anytime. I work 7 days a week and can take your call in the early mornings or evenings.
