Best Public Schools in Coastal Orange County: Huntington, Newport, Laguna, Seal Beach, San Clemente

Watch the video below to learn about the best public schools in Coastal Orange County:

Where are the best public schools in the coastal cities of Orange County? We have a lot of great schools here, so I decided to break the information up into 3 videos: North OC, South OC, and the coastal cities which is the video you’re watching now. If you need help finding a home in a particular  school district or even a particular school, please feel free to call or text me anytime at (714) 486-4086. I can set you up on a home search that sends you homes for sale that will go to the schools you want.

We are going to be taking a look at online school ratings from GreatSchools.org. They have a lot of detailed information about each school, so if you want to learn more I recommend visiting their website and taking a look for yourself. I’ll leave a link in the description below.

We did not cover these areas in any specific order in terms of best to worst, we are kind of starting on the North end of Orange County and working our way South. I am picking areas that have strong elementary, middle, and high schools. These are areas where you could purchase a home with the idea of staying long-term and sending your kids through the entire public school system. I also picked areas that I would expect to remain good neighborhoods with highly-rated schools for years to come.

Seal Beach

The first city we are going to take a look at is Seal Beach. The high school and middle school for Seal Beach are both in Los Alamitos. The high school is Los Alamitos High, which is rated a 9. The middle school is Sharon Christa McAuliffe Middle School which is rated an 8. The Elementary school in Seal Beach is J.H. McGaugh Elementary which is rated an 8.

Huntington Beach

Next up on the list is Huntington Beach. Huntington Beach has a lot of highly rated schools, but it also has some schools with lower ratings mixed in, so you need to be careful on the neighborhood you choose. The three best high schools in Huntington Beach are Edison High, Huntington Beach High, and Marina High which are all rated a 9. For Middle Schools there is one 9, two 8’s, and four 7’s. Moving on to elementary schools there are a lot of 9’s and 8’s, but there are also multiple schools rated a 6 or below.

Fountain Valley

I’m also going to include Fountain Valley in the Coastal Cities list even though it is not directly on the coast because it is still very close to the water. There are 2 high schools, one of which is highly rated which is Fountain Valley High. It is rated a 9. The Middle Schools are Fulton Middle which is rated a 10, Masuda which is rated a 9, and then Vista View which is rated a 7. There are a lot of highly rated elementary schools. Ethan B. Allen is a 10, and then there are 3 9’s and an 8.

Newport Beach

Now we’re going to take a look at Newport Beach. The 2 high schools are Corona Del Mar High which is rated a 9, and Newport Harbor High which is a 7. The middle schools are Corona Del Mar High, which has a grade range of 7-12, and Horace Ensign Intermediate which is rated a 7. The elementary schools are all pretty highly rated. There are four 9’s and two 8’s.

Laguna Beach

South of Newport we have Laguna Beach. In this city we have Laguna Beach High which is rated a 9 and Thurston Middle, which is also rated a 9. For Elementary Schools we have a 9 in El Morro Elementary, and Top of the World Elementary which is also a 9.

San Clemente

The farthest South coastal city in Orange County is San Clemente. The high school is San Clemente High, which is rated an 8 out of 10. There are 3 middle schools, Vista del Mar Middle which is an 8, Bernice Ayer Middle which is a 7, and Shore cliffs Middle which is a 7. The elementary schools are a little bit of a mixed bag. San Onofre Elementary is a 9, Vista Del Mar Elementary is an 8, Truman Benedict Elementary is also an 8, and Concordia is a 7. There are also 3 poorly rated elementary schools in San Clemente, so watch out for those if you’re thinking about buying a home in this area.

Do Your Research!

That wraps up our discussion of some of the best public schools in Coastal Orange County. To reiterate this was a coverage of cities and neighborhoods that have strong elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools. I highly recommend that you do your research on specific school boundaries to make sure the neighborhood you are buying in goes to the schools you want. Just because a home is in one city, it does not mean that it is 100% guaranteed to go to the schools located in that city. If you’re thinking about buying a home and you want to get more information about these schools please let us know. We can set you up on a home search that will send you homes that goes to the specific schools you are looking for. If you have questions please feel free to call, text, or email me anytime. I work 7 days a week and can take your call in the early mornings or evenings.
